Hello there,

Ah, the first blog post. Should I be nervous? Am I nervous? Should you, dear reader, be nervous? The answer to all three is no. Unless you're strongly opposed to children learning to read... then you may be in the wrong place.

If you've stumbled upon this page, I assume you've explored the rest of my site and already have a sense of who I am and what I do. But if the universe has brought us together by a different path, and you're not quite sure what to expect, here's a very short introduction.

I am a mother. My child struggled with reading, and I quickly realized I didn't have the tools to help her. So, I went back to school, became a certified Orton-Gillingham tutor, and voilà - here I am helping other children learn to read with confidence.

This blog will be a space for a wide range of topics. We might talk about literacy rates in America (they're not great, by the way), or I might share practical tips on what actually helps children learn to read and what doesn't. I'll also draw from my experience as a homeschool mom here in Southern Utah. We may even explore topics like WIN time in schools and what an IEP is. There's a lot to cover!

My promise to you, reader, is that this space will be fun, informative, and a place of connection. If there's a topic or question you'd like covered, I'd love to hear it.

I am excited to chat more soon. Thanks for spending your time here.

Jamie
